Laser Cutting / Engraving

Accurate cutting and engraving for plastic and other materials.

Not strapped to a sharks head.

Our laser cutter is a CO2 unit which is ideal for cutting or engraving plastic, leather, card or many other materials.

It can engrave images or graphics and make very accurate, fine cuts.

With our 4th axis we can also engrave in curved surfaces such as glasses or bottles so its ideal for custom branding on products.

From simple jobs to mass produced items for trade shows or events we can work with you to realise any ideas you might need lasering.

Choosing the right technology for your cutting needs is essential to getting the results you want. Each technology we employ has pros and cons which dictate which we recommend. Read on to see if laser cutting/engraving is right for your job.

+ Pros

Narrow Cuts

Using a very fine beam of laser light means the widths of the cuts are small <1mm. As such we can fit a lot of things on a single piece of stock or cut very fine detail into material.

Beautiful engraving

We can add logos, patterns or any designs to a variety of materials including wood, leather, plastic and glass.

Cuts flexible or soft material

Because a laser cuts with light rather than a spinning tool (like a CNC) it can cut softer more flexible materials that would get torn to pieces by a blade. As such we can cut things like leather, cork, soft plastics easily.

- Cons

Scorching

Laser cutters use an intense beam of light to burn (ablate) into or through the material. As such there is always some residue left by this process. While its easily removed if required it does add more time to the processing of the items cut.

Cut Depth

On materials like plywood or acrylic there is a limit to the depth we can cut with the laser. Generally its around 12mm for plywood and 25mm for acrylic.
