CNC Cutting

Fast, accurate cutting for wood and many other materials.

Eats sheets of ply

Our bread and butter is CNC routing on our 3m x 1.5m ATC machine. We can cut a range of different materials and process large amounts of stock in a very short period of time.

Our 3 axis router is ideally suited to cutting sheet materials, e.g. large flat sheets of stock though with 200mm of vertical cutting height we can also cut large blocks of stuff.

We keep stocks of many of our go to materials such as MDF & Plywood in various grades and thicknesses and have access to the largest supplier in the UK if we don’t have it in the shop. We offer various turnaround times, accuracies and finishes depending on your budget and needs and can even offer same or next day service to our London customers.

We are happy to take one off jobs or repeat custom and have CNC cut work for large companies and consumers. If you need it CNC’d we can do it.

If you don’t know what process would be best for machining your ideas check the pros and cons below.

Our pricing is by the hour, this means we will do your job in the fastest possible time to your specs and only charge you for the time you use. We can also give you a fixed price for your job if we have enough information to accurately estimate the amount of time it will take. We offer a standard, fast and same day service (conditional to machine availability) with varying costs. Please see the table below:

All prices exclude VAT
Our standard service has a +-0.2mm tolerance. Lower tolerances are possible but will incur additional time/cost.

Choosing the right technology for your cutting needs is essential to getting the results you want. Each technology we employ has pros and cons which dictate which we recommend. Read on to see if CNC cutting is right for your job.

+ Pros

Large cutting area

Our large bed machine can cut up to 3m x 1.5m (10x5ft) sheets into as few or as many parts as required so its ideal for big things or getting many many small parts from a single sheet of stock.

Fast cutting

Our machine moves fast! Because its physically cutting and the machine is large and rigid we can cut at speeds far beyond what can be achieved by hand and at sub mm accuracy.

Variable Tools

Because our machine is equipped with a tool changer we can move between different types of cut in one job. e.g. we can chamfer your work, add round overs, grooves or holes on the fly.

- Cons

Rounded Corners / Kerf

A CNC cuts with a spinning blade generally shaped like a drill bit. Because of this a portion of the thing being cut is left when the cutter cuts an inside corner. This stock left is decided by the diameter of the cutter, e.g. a 6mm tool leaves a 3mm radius. This is referred to as kerf. As a result you cant get completely angled inner corners with a CNC though we can use tools as small as 2mm which result in a 1mm kerf.

Smaller tools, slower speed

If you want fine details or a small kerf (see above) you will need to use smaller tools. Because smaller tools are weaker the machine has to be run slower and set to cut less material increasing cost and time. If you want very fine cuts or very small detail our laser cutting service might be more suitable, you can read about it here.
